Styles of music video's

1. Narrative Based - Storyline. E.g Gives you hell by The all american rejects.These narrative based music videos are made to portray the story that the song is about my clearly. therefore making the song more relatable and more interesting to watch as well as listen to. 
2. Cinematic - High production value, storyline, has a film-like quality. e.g So far away by Avenged sevenfold. Cinematic music videos are made primarily to look good, they have quite a high production value are are usually madee about a very serious topic like los of a friend etc. with the cinematic shots complimenting their sadness or whatever other emotion that may be being portrayed. 
3. Studio Based - One location, (studio) e.g Banshee by letlive. A studio based music video is basicly just a video of the band/artist themsleves performing their songs in a room on their own, this alows them to portray their emotions in the song through their movements and facvial expressions more than portraying the actual story of the song. 
4. Intertextuality - Refers to other existing texts/music videos. e.g Smooth criminal by Alien ant farm. This is a more serious version of a parody as it is not made to annoy or make fun of the original person who made the song but instead it is almost to compliment them and idolize them. 
5. Parody - Making fun of anyother text/video. e.g Girl all the bad guys want by Bowling for soup. This style of music video is made primarily to poke fun at the original makers of the songs.
6. Pastiche - Working seriously with another genre/theme. e.g Candyman by Christina algulira. This brand of music video is normally used to film music videos as if they are in a different time period such as the example shows. 
7. As live - live performance video of a band playing the song. e.g Gravedigger by Architects. This is just as the title sugests, it is a video of the band playing their own song live, this is done so that the audience can be seen in the video and can therefore show their reactions to the song as well as the band members expressions also. 
8. Animation - A music video made primarily by computer animation e.g Walk over me by All american rejects. The animated music videos are normally used for humour purposes to make ths ong funnier as well as more interesting to watch, therefore maintaining the audiences attention the entire way through the song.
